#Sd card slot not working on my laptop how to#
It's possible an update borked the SD Host Controller but I don't know how to repair it if it's gone missing.Įdit: Can you provide the support site link for the card reader driver you downloaded?Įdit Edit: Browse to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository If you have the Card Reader under Disk Drives and it does not have a yellow exclamation mark next to it I'm not sure what the problem is. Moved from W10 Spt to Internal Hardware - Hamluis. I don't know how else to try and fix the issue. I've tried updating the SD card reader driver through ASUS' official website, I've tried several versions of the driver, etc. The SD card is recognized initially in Windows 10, but when the Windows 10 updates are installed, something happens and the SD card is not accessible. However, I have another brand of laptop running Windows 10, and the SD card reads fine on that machine. They used to work on my laptop a few months ago, and I didn't operate any major changes to the laptop apart from mandatory Windows updates. I have two HP laptops running Windows 10, and the SD card isnt seen by either machine. When I slide any SD card in, the light comes on for 1 second and then comes off. The previous owner said he never used the SD card slot. I don't think the SD cards are the problem as they're working on my camera with no issues. This is a used Toshiba laptop I got a month ago. It's not recognising my SD card and I've tried another SD card, with no luck. However it seems that my integrated SD card reader suddenly stopped working - I'm using it for my photography work. I have an ASUS laptop (ZenBook UX430U) under Windows 10 (64-bit) and it's been working great so far, fabulous laptop. (for the mods: I suspect it's a driver issue linked to a Windows 10 update, however I'm sorry in advance if you think I'm posting this in the wrong category.)
